Crochet Tiny Irish Clover - Free Pattern + Video Tutorial

Feeling lucky? This quick and easy Irish Clover crochet pattern is perfect for beginners and experienced crafters alike. Whether you're decorating for St. Patrick's Day, making cute appliqués, keychains, or adding a charming touch to your handmade projects - this little clover works up in just a few minutes!

The traditional Irish clover - known as the shamrock - has three leaves. It's one of Ireland's most recognized symbols, famously used by St. Patrick to explain the Holy Trinity. So if you want to stay true to tradition, three leaves is the way to go! That said, if you're feeling extra lucky, you can always add a fourth leaf - after all, a four-leaf clover is said to bring good fortune to whoever finds one. 🍀

What You'll Need

  • 15 m (16 yds) of Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8 in green shades
  • Crochet hook: 3.5 mm (US E-4) - a smaller hook is used intentionally to achieve a tighter fabric
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • st(s) – stitch(es)

Gauge: Gauge is not critical for this project, but adjustments to hook size or yarn may affect the final size.

Finished Size: Approximately 4×5 cm (1.6×2 inches) - perfect for decorations and appliqués.

CROCHET PATTERN:

Start with magic ring

For each leaf: ch 3, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 tr, ch 3, sl st into the MR to join.

Repeat 2 more times for a traditional 3-leaf shamrock - or 3 more times if you want a lucky 4-leaf clover!

For the stem: ch 10, sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each chain across.

Pull the MR tight, fasten off, and weave in the ends.

TIPS:

🍀 Use different yarn weights and hook sizes to create clovers in various sizes.
